Standing magnificently at the heart of Ho Chi Minh City is Saigon Opera House.
Also known as the Municipal Theater, the opera house was built in 1898 by Eugene Ferret, following the “flamboyant” style of the French Third Republic. Located on the city’s center axis, connecting metro station and the roundabout in front of Ben Thanh Market, the building stands as one of the most impressive sight in Saigon – both night and day.

The Mist captures the essence of farmers’ life in Southern Vietnam and paints that picture with the sensual language of contemporary dance mix and mesmerizing music. Take in this beautiful metaphor of rice for life. Sense this captivating rhythm of a way of life seemingly simple yet spiritually rich. Immerge in a colorful range of emotions. Harvest these cultural gems as the curtains draw, stories unfold, and the dance starts.
THE STORIES OF RICE
‘Rice is the origin of life’ - quoted The Mist’s creators. Just as the saying goes, there is no symbol that better represents Vietnamese culture than this simple food. Humble as the muddy soil they rise from, pure as their silky white color, joyful as the young farmers’ laughter as harvest, nourishing as they feed generations of Vietnamese, every little rice grain means so much. These stories of rice are then woven into the show like shining silky strands flowing beautifully with a sensational choreography, elegant stage settings, and mesmerizing music.
THE SENSUAL BEAUTY OF SOUTHERN VIETNAM
The Mist paints watercolor-like pictures of farmers’ life in Southern Vietnam. Beauty emerges from a dreamlike misty dawn on the field. Young dancers move with grace, elevating earthly cultivating activities into a sensational and symbolic rhythm of life. Sensual artists’ figures dive, melt, and levitate, as fluid as the nurturing flow of the Mekong River.
A DANCE OF COLORFUL EMOTIONS
This performance features a rich mix of dance genres: contemporary, neoclassic, and ballet. Hence farmer characters’ emotional ups and downs are rendered in myriad of different colors. The mundane farming hardship. Sweats of passion. Joyous cracking laughter. A tranquil mind in meditation. Youth’s lustful pursuit. Wandering souls. Ephemeral human fates like leaves in a stormy wind. Tangling heart strings bound by romance… The Mist’s choreography portrays all these vignettes with elegance and poetry, bringing the audience a colorful feast of emotions.
